The pay wasn't worth it for
Joe Carufe.
Fresh out of an internship with a campus ministry, the newly-married Carufe spent his work week making collections calls for a mortgage company. He met the goals, earned bonuses and connected with his colleagues.
But even with the success, Carufe yearned for an opportunity to do more than a good job.
"I had no passion for the work I was doing, and I could not get behind the mission of the company," he says.
All that changed with an opportunity.
In June, Carufe joined Two Roads as a junior bookkeeper, working directly with partners like a member of their staffs. The University of Tennessee graduate says he found more than work with his new job.
He connected with a culture.
"We all want to be more than just a bill in their quickbooks for 'Accounting Fees,'" he says. "We want to partner with our clients and make sure that they know that we are for them and desire their success just as much as ours."
When Two Roads hired him, Carufe took on the day-to-day tasks of bank reconciliation, paying bills and managing the books.
As the company has grown, he has become more of a liaison. He works closely with new Two Roads partners, acquainting them with the Cloud and their bookkeepers.
On the surface, it may look like Carufe is just working in another office. In reality, Two Roads has given him more than just an enjoyable job.
"When Joe gets off in the evenings, there's always a host of topics from the day to discuss," says his wife,
Franny. "We love talking business at home – what's going on at the company, how to make systems more efficient, what processes could be improved.
"It's something I've grown an interest in since being married through his excitement."
Joe Carufe's excitement stems from a passion he shares with his coworkers.
"I love that I work at a place where the whole team comes together around being the best and really desiring to bring value to the client," he says.
