I recently got the opportunity to be on a
WBIR news talk show hosted John Becker to talk about the Knoxville Chamber’s
Propel mentor/protege program. Along with me was the Knoxville Chamber’s Business Development Manager and leader of the Propel mentor/protege program, Doug Minter as well as Jennie Huettel, owner of the pet photography business
Mountain Mutt Media.
The Propel program pairs an established community business leader with a protege that is relatively new to business. The Knoxville Chamber boasts that this program has generated almost $50 million of economic benefit to the Knoxville area in less than three years.
The opportunity to be paired with Tom Dickenson, a local attorney, has been a tremendous help for the growth and success of Two Roads. If you are new to business and looking for a way to gain some insight from long standing business professionals I would highly recommend the program.
The Knoxville Chamber looks for these qualities when selecting candidates for the program.
- Established business for three years or have ten years expertise in their field
- Agree to Chamber membership for three years
- Articulate clear, measurable goals with the assistance of a mentor
- Passion to grow your business
- Willingness to take instruction from others
- Time commitment of one face-to-face meeting per month
Each year the chamber accepts accepts roughly 15 individuals for each side of the mentor/protege program.
Do you want to take your business to the next level? Perhaps it is time for you to consider becoming a mentor or protege through the Knoxville Chamber. For more information about how to apply, visit the
Knoxville Chamber website or contact the program director
Doug Minter.
