Two Roads Team Spotlight: Mackenzie Hatmaker, Bookkeeper

TR Mackenzie1. What excites you about working at Two Roads?

I love that our partners are more than just clients or associates. Bookkeeping isn't just about the numbers, there's a relationship aspect involved that makes it exciting to come to work each day.

2. What’s an example of that?

It's like having a friend who owns a business and you get excited when you see them doing well.

3. What was the last book you read (or recommended?)

The book I'm reading right now is A Place of Healing by Joni Eareckson Tada. She is an amazing lady who became a quadriplegic when she was a teenager. I love reading about her perspective on life.

4. What was your first job?

My first job was working at AC Moore in the scrapbooking department. Not only can I work on your books, but I can make them look pretty as well!

5. Who or what inspires you?

Jesus

6. Why do you feel that way?

I want to be like Him and have His love for people. It's easy to get so caught up in my daily tasks that the next phone call or meeting is just another item I need to check off my list. In reality, it is an opportunity to serve someone else.

7. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like running, reading, watching movies, and spending time with my 4 year-old nephew.

8. What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?

I'm a big sports fan, especially basketball. March madness is my favorite! I cheer for UT and whichever NFL team Peyton is playing on!

9. What do you wish other people knew about Two Roads?

It is a fun place to work. Most people think of bookkeeping as a boring job, but we have a lot of fun. There is lots of laughter in the midst of the mundane.

10. What's the best thing to happen since you started working with Two Roads?

I've been with Two Roads since the beginning, so I think the best thing is seeing it go from a vision to a thriving business. It's neat to think back to the times when we were just brainstorming and to now see those plans come to fruition.
