Why did you decide to work for a bookkeeping company?
Bookkeeping has been my passion since I was 17, when I started my first job at a bookkeeping office.
What’s one thing you think everyone working for a new business should know?
Expect change. No business starts out with all aspects being perfect.
What’s one thing you think everyone working for a new business should do?
Be flexible. Accept change as a constant. No business or individual grows if they don't try new things.
What excites you about working at Two Roads?
The culture is the best! It is not just one sided, the partners see the same culture as the employees.
What’s an example of that?
Each of our staff meetings begins with a prayer and if any of our team members or partners are hurting they are included in the prayer.
What was the last book you read (or recommended?)
I recently recommended and bought
The Bremen Town Musicians for my 5 year old. Now you know how my time outside of work is spent!
What was your first job?
My first job was as a bookkeeper at a business that was just becoming computerized. The first year I was exposed to some methods and equipment that are now considered antiques, such as a check writer and fax machine with a slick roll of paper. We even used ledger paper!
Who or what inspires you?
My kids! They give me the motivation to try and be the best example that I know how. I fail daily, but keep trying.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my family. Fortunately the
Two Roads structure allows me to do more of that.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I bet they'd be surprised to know that math was my least favorite subject in school.
What do you wish other people knew about Two Roads?
I wish everyone could see the care that each team member has for the partners. There is so much internal communication that even the partners don't see or know that is happening behind the scenes.
What's the best thing to happen since you started working with Two Roads?
There's probably not just one thing, but I would have to say the addition of staff has been the best thing. Adam and Chad have built such a great team to work with.
