I was immediately intrigued by an online article in Fast Company by Laura Vanderkam titled, "
What The Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast." I tend to be an early bird and I've often tinkered with my morning rituals. I like to think you can get a lot done in the morning, not to mention get a great start to the day. Here is what I'm currently doing:
1.
Wake up between 5:00 and 5:15. The time has certainly varied over the years--particularly since the family has grown making it more difficult to get to bed at a reasonable hour the night before.
2.
Get out of the house. For me to actually get out of bed and not hit the snooze button, I've got to leave the house. So 3-4 days a week, I go and run or work out. My runs are typically about 5 or 6 miles and my work outs are
Crossfit-esque.
3.
Read my Bible and pray. This is the most important part of my day but for me, it doesn't happen unless I'm alert and awake. Hence, the painful run or work out.
4.
Eat a good breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day and I consider myself somewhat of a health nut so I try to eat a super duper smoothie (eggs, almond butter, blue berries, banana, strawberries, milk, etc) or an egg omelet and fruit.
So this is pretty much my routine before I head to the office and has been for quite some time. What do you do to get a jump on the day?
